The idea of thanking God for something destructive was new to me. The book is about Janie Taylor who became a Christian at a very young age. Janie makes a “thank God” for list, which I have to say inspired me to do the same.
The principal shared in this book is that we all go through very hard times. We all have seemingly destructive forces warring against our prosperity and peace. But if we can apply this same principal to our daily lives we can get stronger! If we can find things to be thankful for as Janie did, then we can over come.
I enjoyed this book. It gave me a greater historical understanding of the times and hardships of the deep south at that time in American History. I would recommend this book for History classes, book clubs or Bible study classes to focus on being grateful as well as overcoming adversity.
