John 1:1 In the Beginning was the Word

Choices!

Do you ever meditate on choices you’ve made? I do!

The stupidest choice I ever made came after the folks at a local church where I served came together to inform me, “I had no idea what I looked like” which in their opinion wasn’t suitable for the position I held! To the point that one lady bought dresses to bring to church for me to wear!

My heart has always been in the Word. I was never into beauty contests and certainly not in church. I was never beautiful, but as a younger woman, I was pretty. That event – at that time – changed my focus – and I started to look at myself and shrink away! Looking at our imperfections, and comparing ourselves among ourselves leads to less faith and confidence. Before that my confidence was in the Word of God! After, my confidence was in my appearance.

The moral of this story is God is not impressed with our appearance! Pretty people or clothes don’t commend us to God. Those in the church who only see the outward appearance and glory in your clothes are not right with God. How would those people react to John the Baptist, Peter, or Paul walking in to preach? What if Jesus came to our houses today, or visited our churches tonight? I shrunk back because of my appearance! I was intimidated! Do not go where I went! Don’t be afraid of their opinions. Don’t hide because they can’t see what God sees in you! Let your light shine no matter what anyone says about you.
