John 1:1 In the Beginning was the Word

Writers, Write on!

I remember being in school, opening my locker, and finding a letter from a classmate. This wonderful young person shared Jesus with me, and in big bold letters wrote about the Holy Ghost. Sixty years later, those words remain branded on my memory, as well as the kindness it took for her to share with me. I had gone to a movie called Jesus of Nazareth a few months before this letter, and what she didn’t know was that I asked Jesus to forgive me. I was forgiven but unlearned in the word, so I cried as I read each word! Someone actually cared about me. Today, many years later, the one thing I am sure of is the Love of God. The mercy Jesus died to give me remains and makes me get up when I am done. Yes! Sometimes I just decide I’m done. Not done with Jesus but done with religion. I could never, ever measure up to any religious standard. Sows purse would be a compliment to my often reluctant nature! Yet, Jesus has always known how to move me! You know, like, the cowboys could drive those cattle in any direction they want, Jesus could always correct me and make me feel loved at the same time. I am not the young girl who opened that letter many years ago. I know my Bible very well, and so I wish I could be more like the people who overcame great hardship to earn a place in that great lineup. Who would have dreamed that one letter would mean so much to me so many years later? I appreciate the words she weaved into a net of love and acceptance. I often wonder why more people don’t just sit down and write a Spirit-filled letter to someone who desperately needs to hear! So many people are afraid to witness face to face, Look how powerful a heartfelt letter can be, and the impact it can have on broken people. Here’s to the writers of the Word of God! I am Thankful for those who wrote the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation! I am grateful for their obedience. It is a ministry and with every stroke of a pen and every striking of a key, God can and does speak! To those who write, write on!
