John 1:1 In the Beginning was the Word

Merry Christmas

So many people see Christmas through the lens of Santa, trees, and toys.  I see it as a miracle of love and mercy. After being under the law of sin and death, the angels called these good tidings of GREAT joy! Now, there would be peace on earth and good will toward man. No, not peace between men, because there were to be more wars. This peace was between God and man!  The Saviours’ birth brought the hope of Salvation, the cleansing of sin, and the new birth for everyone who believes in Him. I can imagine how excited the angels were to shout out the good news.  To proclaim the GREAT Joy of His arrival! Soon and very soon, this night would lead Jesus to Calvary where  He paid the dues demanded by the Law. He paid them for every man woman boy and girl who would accept Him and believe in Him! So although we have no idea when His actual birthday was – we celebrate Him on the 25th of December and praise God for His arrival! Thank you Jesus for wearing – putting on a robe of flesh to live, overcome and die for our Salvation. You truly are our source of Great joy!

“Luk 2:8  And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. Luk 2:9  And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. Luk 2:10  And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Luk 2:11  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luk 2:12  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. Luk 2:13  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Luk 2:14  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

I have heard these Scriptures in Church, Schools, and TV shows over these many years but it was today – with all other voices silent – I saw these words – Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. Yes! Do not be afraid – this is good news and it’s for everyone!
