John 1:1 In the Beginning was the Word

I miss Church

I am not anti-church or anti-preacher as a few think based on my previous comments. I am an older person who remembers the church in years past and I miss it. In a time when preachers were concerned less about the color of their suit and more about deliverance. I miss the time when Christians visited the sick and prayed until they felt they touched God instead of today’s, “so sorry, we will put you on the prayer chain.” Prayers Chains are great – but they can’t touch you with anointing oil, or hold your hand while you battle the fear of death!

I miss the altar. I miss seeing rows of people lining the altar – they lined up behind those who got there first and sometimes you couldn’t see the altar for the arms wrapped over it! I miss hearing people calling on God so loud the neighbors could hear it and I miss the fruit of it – when someone ran into the church – tears falling like showers and went straight to the altar! I miss the looks on people’s faces who didn’t expect this person to get saved but God moved in answer to prayer and there they were weeping on the same altar – where their loved ones had sought God for them all week!

I miss ministry that reached out to the lost in everyone’s family, not just a select few. I miss church being church and not an entertainment center! I miss preachers who did not compare themselves among themselves – showing that they are not wise.
I miss Preachers waiting on God – not closing because they were done! I miss seeing preachers wait on one another, each one preaching the word God gave them, and be patient and giving space to each other to obey God. I miss the Love of God! I miss the genuine Holy Ghost who called us to be witnesses instead of building our own little kingdom with our chosen name to promote our own gifts! I miss the Holy Ghost who not only made you shout but made you forgive and stop bashing other churches just to gain favor. I miss the church that could recognise the difference between a wolf who wants to divide and someone who genuinely cares! I miss the church who has the mind of Christ who came to seek and to save that which was lost – not the highest tithe payers! I am concerned when Christians build fortresses to sit in and just let the world go to hell, as long as they can eat dinners, have sewing bees, or backbite over coffee! More than that – I miss men and women of God who would defend the people being defamed without evidence and ask the wolf to shut his mouth. Or put kindly, brother please don’t backbite some who is not here to defend themselves. I have been guilty of these things, and I have repented, so I pray Lord “pour out the real Holy Ghost on all of us!” “Give us the genuine Spirit of Jesus” Deliver us from this popularity contest we call church – and call us all into one body in one mind and one accord! See LessEdit
